Here are lists of common medicine for Lupus patients. These medicines were issued by my personal doctor. By the way, this article is based from my experience.
These medicines
are the daily intake after the clearing process from the doctor. It’s like a
take home forever medicine.
1. HCQS – “Hydroxychloroquine” an
antirheumatic medicine used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and
discoid – systematic lupus erythematosus.
It
could also use treat or prevent malaria- malaria is a disease caused by
mosquito bites.
However,
the side effect for HCQS as my doctor reminded me of, was it will back down
your eyesight. It can cause blurry (or something change in color) eyesight and
worst it can cause blindness. It could also weaken the bones
2. Imuran - Azathioprine is an immunosuppressant, a drug that is
used to suppress the immune system. It is used for diseases in which modifying
the activity of the immune system is important.
Azathioprine is a prodrug (a precursor of a drug)
which is converted in the body to its active form called mercaptopurine
(Purinethol).
3. Prednisone - COMMON BRAND
NAME(S): Deltasone
GENERIC NAME(S): Prednisone
Prednisone is used to treat conditions such
as arthritis, breathing problems, blood disorders, skin diseases, cancer, eye
problems and immune system disorders. Prednisone belongs to a class of drugs
known as corticosteroids. It decreases your immune system’s response to various
diseases to reduce symptoms such as swelling and allergic-type reactions.
These 3 medicines are the basic to intake to
control Lupus disease.
Since it has side effects, the doctor gave me
some vitamins and supplements to support.
